Gomez and Snetkova victorious

The first day of the Russian Indoor Combined Events Championship saw the women’s title contested. Anna Snetkova, who had never won the National crown before, claimed the top of the podium with the country’s leading score of 4520. The effort put her at No. 6 on the IAAF World list, and among the top eight (counting the 2003 Outdoor Championships) invited to the World Indoor Championships by the IAAF. The Open Cup, contested by the “Multievent Athlete – Bavaria-M – BMW” athletic club within the framework of the competition, went to one of the World’s premiere heptathlete, Naide Gomez of Portugal, who posted the third best score in the World this season – 4570.
