Bogdanov fights off Aritkulov’s challenge

Ramil Aritkulov, just like he did in the preliminary heat earlier this weekend, set a fast tempo in the men’s 800 m final and went through the first lap in 52,2. Dmitiry Bogdanov was not only the lone athlete in pursuit, but also managed to move ahead of Aritkulov with 200 m to go. To Ramil’s credit, he did not give up and was even able to eat up some of the gap that formed between Bogdanov and himself, bringing the crowd to its feet but failing to stop Dmitriy from winning the title.
