Last medal of the day stays right at home in Volgograd

Olga Rubleva, hosting the long jump competition in her “home pit”, naturally felt comfortable and posted one of her best jumps of the season - 6,69 (she went just 1 cm farther in her season’s best effort at the Russian Military Championships). Significantly, Olga’s best effort came in the first round, putting the pressure on her competition early on. The experienced Lyudmila Galkina came very close to toppling the leader twice, but came up just short going 6,67 both times. Tatyana Ter-Mesrobyan, who was the best qualifier with a jump of 6,58, only managed a 6,51 in the final and finished third.
