Yevgeniy Pechyonkin equals National record!

The second day of the triple meet was highlighted by a series of
quality performances.

Yevgeniy Pechyonkin showed some intensity early in the season. After
winning his 60 m hurdles heat in 7,57, he improved to a swift 7,52 in the
final, equaling his own National record (also shared by Vikor Markin). No
one in the world has run the distance faster this year.

National champion Svetlana Laukhova became the first woman on the planet to
break
8 seconds in the 60 m hurdles this season, with a time of 7,99.

Oksana Rogova caught up with Elena Olynikovas world leading performance in
the triple jump, with an effort of 14,60 m.

World relay champion Svetlana Goncharenko came back in style, as absence
from competition due to injury could not keep her from turning in yet
another world leading time by a Russian athlete, 23,03 in the 200 m.
Svetlana will next compete at Russian Nationals in Volgograd, where she will
vie for a spot on the European championships team.

The day was capped off with a successful debut by quarter-miler Natalia
Khrushchelyova, who chose to run twice her usual distance. She was rewarded
with a victory, and a time of 2.02,49, also the best in the world so far
this season.
